Some customers think this coffee tastes: Floral, Jasmine, Peach, Cane Sugar

When Hacienda La Esmeralda brought their Geisha to the Panama Cup of Excellence in 2004, it blew the judges away, setting a record sale price at auction (nearly $900/lb) and creating more than one legend. Besides making a name for La Esmeralda, it also gave Klatch Coffee an excuse to charge $75 for a single cup of coffee!

This is Geisha from Finca La Esmerelda. We have a very limited quantity, and just like our Yemen, Kona, and Jamaica Blue Mountain, we offer it in a smaller quantity that keeps the price down. Of course, you can always order multiples!

The Geisha variety was originally discovered in Ethiopia in 1930 and imported to Costa Rica for planting. It never gained a strong foothold likely due to the tastes at the time and the desire for more productive coffee trees. Geisha does not produce many cherries, and it requires much more work to care for the plants, making it not so economically viable. But now that there’s a new market for Geisha, Costa Rica is back in the game with their highest grown coffees scoring near the top of the charts in competitions worldwide.

This exceptional coffee comes in a nitrogen-flushed, resealable clear bag inside a decorative box. 6 oz quantity. Our recommendation is to slow-pour (Hario V60, Chemex, Kalita) and serve in a small, clear glass so you can enjoy the deep red color, the intense floral bouquet, and savor every sip!
