BRINGING THE NICARAGUA HOME (RETURN TO ORLANDO)

Back in the summer of 2023, Zac visited an amazing Coffee Shop / Roastery in Orlando that left a lasting impression. In the summer of 2024, he brought Jessica along to experience the shop and the Nicaraguan coffees herself.

We ran into Rebecca, the daughter of the mother/daughter duo who own's Stemma coffee, and she invited us in to the roastery for a proper cupping of her family's beans.

Our cupping was hosted and facilitated by Aizhak, the roast master. 

All four coffees were incredible, and showcased the quality of both the farms and the roaster to bring out the complex flavors that were possible to develop from the beans. Our hardest choice would be choosing just one. But in the end, we chose the most balanced of the mix, with a belief that most of our customers would appreciate the chocolate, lemon, and caramel notes that we picked up.

After deciding on the beans, we had Rebecca take one last picture of us before we needed to leave for our flight back to Evansville.

But before setting up the shipping of the beans, we realized that we might be able to explore another plan to get the beans home. Aizhak checked the price to ship, and it was going to be about $60. By some accident of booking, Zac and Jessica had paid for checked bags for each of them, just for the return leg of the trip. Now all we needed was a bag (or two!).

We decided to move all of our clothing into a single carry on bag, use Zac's carry on bag for half of the green beans, and purchased a duffle bag for the remaining half of the beans.

In the end, we saved $60 on shipping, spent $30 on a bag, and now have a duffle bag to use for our family (or future coffee muling).

We thought that it was a fun story, and a delicious coffee, and we wanted to share both with you!
